Sideways Cardigan

Mix up your sweater knitting with this sideways cardigan. This cardigan is worked side to side, so the knit stitches are horizontal rather than vertical like in a normal sweater. The two adorable pockets are great for stashing your keys.

For our sideways knit sweater we used Frog Tree Alpaca Sport, a wonderfully soft 100% alpaca yarn.

The pattern includes instructions for sizes 40 inch, 44 inch, and 48 inch finished measurements.

Gauge: 5 stitches to the inch in stockinette stitch on size 5 needles.

In order to complete your sweater you’ll need the following:

Settle into cooler weather with this easy adult jacket project. Frog Tree Alpaca Sport, held together to make a thicker yarn, is incredibly soft and warm.

The jacket is knit entirely in garter stitch, so if purling isn’t your thing we’ve got you covered. It’s a fantastic project for a knitter who wants to move on from scarves to something more adventurous.

We’ve also seen this jacket knit in two tone, with a darker color used for the bottom third. We’re partial to keeping things simple, but it’s easy to add color stripes to this pattern.

The jacket is knit using a size US 6 circular needle.

Available in sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL
Skeins needed: 20 / 20 / 20 / 24 / 28

Kimono cardigan

The Frog Tree Kimono Jacket is one of our most popular projects here at The Tangled Web.

Knit in Frog Tree Alpaca Sport, this jacket easily goes from casual to classy. Dress it up with an elegant button or leave it open and snuggle up by the fire.

The only skills needed for the Kimono Cardigan are knit and purl stitches, so it’s a great project for beginner knitters.

The pattern is available in finished chest sizes 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, and 50. The cardigan can be knit in any of three different lengths, so see the chart below to figure out how many yards you need.

You’ll also need a 29″ US 6 circular needle, tapestry needle for finishing, and stitch markers.

Origami Knit Poncho

This great knit pullover project is made with Frog Tree Alpaca Sport. It’s roomy, warm, and an easy knit that’s great for a beginner.

The Origami Pullover is knit entirely in garter stitch, no purling required! The secret is in the clever way it folds up. The knit stitch and little bit of seaming is all you need to make this sweater.

The folded, flowing fabric makes the origami pullover an easy fit for any body type. The simple, relaxing knitting makes it a wonderful project to work on without stressing out about fussy shaping and sizing.

The pattern includes two sizes, sm/med and lg/xl. You’ll need 1560 or 1820 yards of sport weight yarn.

Knit on size US 6 needles. Although this pattern is worked flat, you’ll want to use long circular needles to keep everything easy to manage.

tapestry needle is used to seam the pullover.
